Kozhikode: Liquor supply agents arrested

Kozhikode: Two persons who supply liquor extensively in and around Kaiveli have been held. Nadapuram excise team has arrested Suresh, of Naripatta, Thinoor and M.P Gireeshan. The scooter in which the duo delivers liquor has also been taken into custody. At the time of seizure, 15 liquor bottles were concealed in a secret layer in the scooter.

According to Nadapuram excise preventive officer Ramachandran Tarol, the arrested have been supplying liquor in Kakkattil, Kaiveli, Thavullakolli areas for long. They have regular customers also. Officials suspect that the liquor are being smuggled from Mahe, which is only few kilometers away.

There are reports of Mahe liquor has been widely smuggled in passenger trains and supplied to agents at local stations such as Mukkali, Jagannatha temple road etc. The excise team includes civil excise officers Shijil Kumar and Sanu T.
