Alert auto driver thwarts bid to molest minor girl in Hyderabad

On verification, the police found that Choto was a habitual criminal involved in 16 cases

HYDERABAD: An alert autorickshaw driver, who foiled a man’s intention to misbehave with a minor girl at Abid Road on Tuesday night, was felicitated by the police commissioner of Hyderabad.

According to police, the autorickshaw driver, Syed Zahid, a resident of Old City was sitting in his vehicle at around 2 am when he noticed the accused, later identified as Mohd Choto (52) misbehaving with a six-yearold child.

“He immediately raised an alarm and alerted the child’s mother and a relative, who overpowered the man. Meanwhile, a patrol party of Abid Road police reached the spot and apprehended the suspect. On verification, the police found that Choto was a habitual criminal involved in 16 cases,” police said.

Central Zone DCP P. Vishwa Prasad said that the victim had come to Nampally Dargah from Miyapur along with her mother and as it was night, they were sleeping on the pavement.

Police commissioner Anjani Kumar appreciated Zahid for his prompt action and presented him with a memento and a cash reward.
