Vijayawada: Samagra Shiksha state project director B. Srinivasa Rao said teachers should work responsibly and ensure that students study properly right from the foundation stage.

“This will ensure that they become highly educated in future,” he underlined at a workshop on “Preparation of lesson plans in structured pedagogy for classes 9–10 in state’s CBSE-affiliated schools,” in Vijayawada on Friday.

The Samagra Shiksha project director asked teachers to prepare their lesson plans in an attractive manner, so that the CBSE syllabus can be understood easily. He suggested inclusion of activities, hyperlinks and videos along with content.

Regarding lesson plans prepared by subject experts, he said that teachers will be trained in IIT and ISER, Tirupati, later. He stated that the training programmes for teachers should be conducted in a phased manner under the residential system. Training should not only test the learning abilities of teachers, but also inculcate moral values within them.

Srinivasa Rao wanted FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy) taught effectively to Grade 1 and 2 students. He asked students to make good use of modern technology, including interactive flat panels, school libraries and laboratories in schools.

CRISP (Centre for Research in Schemes and Policies) state lead Usha Kumari, CBSE joint director M.V. Krishna Reddy, professors Pooja (English), Anupama (Mathematics), Nandan (Social Science) from Azim Premji University, and officials of SCERT were among those who participated in the workshop.
