Bengaluru: The BJP, which has begun the process of selecting candidates for 2019 Lok Sabha elections, is likely to field Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers D.V. Sadananda Gowda once again from Bengaluru North, according to party sources.
The party's sitting MP for Bengaluru Central, P C Mohan could also be fielded once again in 2019, and Ms Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, wife of the late Union Minister Ananth Kumar, is among the contenders for the Bengaluru South ticket, reveal sources.
State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa, who held a meeting with his party corporaters, MLAs and office bearers of the party's Bengaluru urban district unit here on Monday, was reportedly keen on learning about the party's strengths and weaknesses in Bengaluru South, North and Central Lok Sabha constituencies.
The BJP state chief has already held meetings with party office bearers of Belagavi, Chikkodi, Kolar and Chikkaballapura Lok Sabha constituencies. With the BJP's central leadership calling a meeting of presidents and office bearers of all its state units in Delhi on January 11 and 12, Mr. Yeddyurappa has decided to hold a meeting with party office bearers of all 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state in preparation for it.
All BJP state unit presidents and secretaries will be required to submit a report on the progress they have made in preparing for the elections and present a detailed profile of of each Lok Sabha constituency at the Delhi meeting, sources reveal.
