Chennai: The City police detained cadres of a Hindu outfit for protesting near a city multiplex screening the controversial movie 'Padmaavat' in Chennai, on Thursday. While many parts of the country even burned for Padmaavat, the state remained largely silent over the movie release. A few Hindu outfits functioning in the state did, however, stage a protest against the screening of the movie in Tamil Nadu.
In one such case, cadres of Sri Ram Sena and Hindu Yuva Vahini staged an agitation near Satyam multiplex where the movie is also being screened.
Following the protest announcement by both the outfits, police had made security arrangements, placing barricades in front of the theatre, on Thursday.
