Rs 285 crore released for Polavaram project

Vijayawada: This year’s Republic Day has proved auspicious to the state government that received a good news it has been anticipating.

The state received the most awaited second instalment of Nabard loan which has released Rs 285 crores towards the Polavaram project construction.

The Central government had on December 21, 2017, released Rs 1981 crore as first instalment through Nabard following which flow of funds was stalled. With the recent political developments and with Union water resources minister Nitin Gadkari’s interference, the Centre moved positively to release the funds.

According to sources from Delhi, the Union water resources minist-ry had recommended sa-nctioning of Rs 285 crore with immediate effect.
