Hyderabad: Two years after demonetisation, we are seeing its lingering impact, especially in the restlessness of farmers, said C. Ram Manohar Reddy, author of Demonetisation and Black Money at the Hyderabad Literary Festival.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi went ahead with the step to reclaim his narrative as leader of people, but “demonetisation was a decision taken against every piece of sane advice. He was able to seize the initiative because people were angry at corruption.”
Calling demonetisation a “nuclear bomb” to root out corruption, he said, “people are tired and two years later not a single person with black money has been brought out.”
