Hyderabad: Baby found, kidnappers arrested
According to the police, Reshma, the baby’s mother, had left Aliya with Pentamma and went to work.
Hyderabad: The Kacheguda police used CCTV footage to crack the kidnap case of an 18-month-old toddler, Aliya, who had been kidnapped on Tuesday. Police said the accused, G. Krishna and his wife M. Sujatha, kidnapped Aliya after diverting the attention of her grandmother Pentamma at Nimboliadda.
According to the police, Reshma, the baby’s mother, had left Aliya with Pentamma and went to work. Pentamma took the child to a nearby toddy compound.
Kacheguda inspector Md Habeebullah Khan said Pentamma consumed toddy with Sujatha. When they were returning, Sujatha distracted Pentamma and handed over the child to Krishna who took her away. To avoid suspicion, Sujatha also joined the search for Aliya.
Reshma lodged a complaint with the Chaderghat police who booked a kidnap case and transferred the case to the Kacheguda police. Police analysed the CCTV footage and traced the couple to Mumbai. A team was sent to Mumbai where the couple was tracked down. Mr Khan said investigations would establish what the couple wanted to do with the child, to make her beg or to sell her.
