CIAL international terminal inauguration today
CIAL has built the 15 lakh sq ft T3 by spending Rs 1,000 crore.
KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the new international terminal (T-3) of Cochin international airport at a function to be held on the airport premises at 5 pm on Friday. Ports Minister will preside over the function while Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty will deliver the keynote address.
Those who will speak on the occasion include Ministers V K Ibrahim Kunju and Anoop Jacob, MPs K V Thomas and Innocent and MLAs K M Mani, Jose Thettayil and Anwar Sadath and CIAL managing director V J Kurien.
The inaugural function will have 15 fibre elephants and a pooram and kudamattam will be arranged on the occasion. Once the terminal becomes operational the kudamattam will become a weekly affair.
CIAL has built the 15 lakh sq ft T3 by spending Rs 1,000 crore. With the commercial opening of the T3 in coming May, the existing international terminal will be turned into domestic terminal and its area will be increased to 5 lakh sq ft.
The foundation stone for the terminal was laid on February 1, 2014 by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and the work was completed with the involvement of 30 contractors and 5,000 workers who worked 24x7.
