Curious turn in Lulu parking fee row
Mall alleges Consumer Forum member misused power
Kochi: The parking fee row involving Lulu Group and a customer took a curious turn with the retailer alleging that the vehicle used by the complainant was owned by a member of the Ernakulam Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum. Lulu Group moved the Kerala High Court in this regard.
Rema George of Kottayam filed the plea before the forum that Lulu was charging illegal parking fee. Considering the case, the Forum had asked Lulu to submit the money collected by it before the court.
According to Lulu Group, Rema George used the car of Sheen Jose, a member of the Forum. Justice Alexander Thomas of the High Court considered the petition filed by Lulu and asked the Forum to file a reply on the allegation made by Lulu.
Lulu Group alleged that Sheen Jose passed the order against Lulu with ‘ulterior motives’. He, along with other members of the forum, have fraudulently exercised the power under Consumer Protection act, Lulu alleged.
The High Court posted the case to February 29 for detailed hearing. Lulu also produced the RTO copies to prove that the car belongs to Sheen Jose. Meanwhile, Rema George filed an affidavit before the Consumer Forum that the vehicle number of her vehicle was written wrongly in the petition.
“The advocate wrote the vehicle number by looking through the window of the consumer forum. Unfortunately two vehicles of same colour and shape were parked and the advocate made a false entry.”
According to her both cars were parked side by side and mistake crept in the petition.
