Thiruvananthapuram: Congress will be taking up the Youth Congress Leader S. P. Shuhaib's murder in the House when the 10th session of the 14th Legislative Assembly starts on Monday. The indefinite fast by Congress leader K. Sudhakaran and YC State president Dean Kuriakose and vice president C. R. Mahesh have imported a week demanding a CBI but the LDF government has been ignoring them. Though there were reports earlier that LDF Government would announce a CBI probe, it did not happen and the CPM leadership was busy with their State conference.
Initially they web planning a 48-hour protest which they extended as the support started growing. UDF leadership had already expressed their displeasure on the way the Kannur Range IG Mahipal Yadav and his team have been probing. They alleged that the probe has been going at a snail’s pace and only a CBI probe would bring the perpetrators to book. Congress MLA V. S. Sivakumar told DC that the tenth session is going to be stormy. “The parliamentary party meeting of all the UDF MLAs will take place in Assembly on Monday morning prior to the session’s start. There, we will take a final call on our strategy”, said Sivakumar.
UDF MLAs are expected to show their strength a day after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had said in his address at the conclusion of the CPM conference that Congress has weakened. On Sunday, senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal had visited the fasting YC leaders. Mr Sibal said the LDF Government could never offer peace to the people who voted them to power. He alleged that the CPM leadership's trademark is violence. "It is really perplexing with the way Mr Vijayan has been keeping mum on the murder which had happened in his home district. It is high time the LDF Government initiated a CBI probe on the Shuhaib murder", he said. Opposition is also expected to highlight the murder of tribal man Madhu in Attappadi.
