Adilabad: Dalits from Agency areas protest, seek pattas for lands

Adilabad: Dalits residing in Agency areas staged dharnas in front of the tahasildar offices on Monday. Their demand is that the state government issue pattas to the lands they have been cultivating and their houses.
The Dalits under the banner of ‘Agency SC Kulala Ikya Vedika’ staged dharnas in front of the tahasildar offices in Utnoor, Narnoor, Indravelli mandals.
They took out a rally to the tahsildar office in Indravelli after garlanding the statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar. They demanded that government issue pattas to the lands they have been cultivating in the Agency areas and computerise the pahanis.
They also want the government to resolve their other pending problems that they face.
The Dalits living in the Agency areas submitted a memorandum to the revenue inspector Laxman Rao. Vedika district vice-president Somere Nagorao appealed to the government to give them permission to construct new houses on government lands and ask for lands to be distributed to poor Dalits through the gram panchayats.
He alleged that Dalits were neglected and were not given reservations in the recent gram panchayat elections.
Vedika leaders Thitte Nagorao, Panchasheela Shathrughan Jeevane, Kamble Uttam, Parathvagh Vishal, Gaikwad Ramdas, Vaghmare Suryakanth, Acharya Gopinath, Peeraji, Madhavm, Dileep, Thukaram, Bharath and Govind were present.
