Rama Rao takes over reins of vijayawada municipal corporation, assures clean city

Vijayawada: Matta Rama Rao assumed charge as the new Vijayawada municipal commissioner on Monday. Mr Rama Rao had earlier worked as collector of Srikakulam.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that his priority would be on keeping the city clean.

Mr Rama Rao urged the people to segregate dry and wet garbage before handing it over to the garbage collector and support solid waste management for complete recycling process.

He asserted that with the spirit of teamwork, he would take the VMC on top in all aspects.

Mr Rama Rao recalled that when he rendered services at the Bobbili municipality, the civic body had secured first place with the collective effort of the officers and staff.

He said that for the upcoming elections, the VMC would provide infrastructural facilities like drinking water, toilets, ramps, help desk etc. at all polling centres.

He thanked the government for giving him the opportunity to serve the people of Vijayawada.

Vijayawada mayor Koneru Sridhar met Mr Rama Rao and greeted him with a bouquet.

They discussed the ongoing development activities in the city, financial situation of the corporation and other issues.
