Hyderabad: 4 held, bid to kill TRS man
Police says it is fallout of civic election rivalry.
Hyderabad: Disputes between the local leaders of two prominent political parties at Narsingi led to an attempt to murder the TRS leader and his aides. The police arrested four persons on Tuesday while five others are still at large.
According to Nar-singi police, on February 18, a group of persons attacked Venkatesh Yadav, Narsingi municipal councillor, and his aides K. Anand and younger brother K. Raj Kumar, at Kokapet crossroads when they were returning from an event at Gandi-maisamma temple.
Venkatesh escaped in a car but Anand and Raj Kumar received injuries in the attack with beer bottles.
A case was registered and K. Shiva, S. Rajkumar, K. Srisailam Yadav and K. Balraj were arrested while the others, including prime accused K. Ashok Yadav are still at large.
The enmity between the two began during the recent municipal polls, when the former sarpanch Ashok Yadav who is from the Congress, lost to Venkatesh Yadav of the TRS.
After the poll results were out, both men and their aides went to Komaravelli to offer prayers. Venkatesh's aides and Ashok Yadav had a quarrel and the latter was beaten up, and lodged a complaint with the local police.
Ashok Yadav and his aides then plan-ned to eliminate Venkatesh and waited for the right opportunity, and attacked on Febr-uary 18, said the police.
