Andhra Pradesh beats Telangana in revenue earnings
Through commercial taxes, AP earned Rs 28,328 crore and TS Rs 27,681 crore.
Hyderabad: AP has overtaken TS in revenue earning in the current financial year. Despite losing Hyderabad, the major revenue contributor to exchequer of united AP, the state managed to earn more through taxes than TS.
AP earned Rs 1,596.31 crore more than TS. Except for the transport sector, AP earned more than TS from all other major revenue generating departments.
Officials say the reasons for AP getting more revenue are that it has more business centres like Vizag, Vijayawada, Guntur, Kakinada and Tirupati, while TS has no such centres except Hyderabad.
In addition to this, the Centre has given Rs 725 crore as VAT compensation to AP and whereas TS got about Rs 425 crore.
Moreover AP stood second in the country in sales tax collection, while TS is at the ninth spot. Through commercial taxes, AP earned Rs 28,328 crore and TS Rs 27,681 crore.
