Hyderabad: Professional colleges fear that they will be hit financially by a new AICTE norm asking them not to charge fees for subsequent years from students who leave a course midway. Managements feel this decision might be misused by students.

Engineering students take admission in PG courses while they scout for a job; their fee is reimbursed by the government. They quit midway if they get a job, said Mr Kota Sudhir, president of MBA Colleges Association. Colleges are then saddled with empty seats.
