Hyderabad: Newly-appointed state BJP president K. Laxman on Monday said he will make all possible efforts to turn the party into the only alternative to the TRS in TS by the 2019 elections.
Participating in a Meet the Press programme organised by the Hyderabad Press Club here on Monday, Dr Laxman said he would try to remove the impression that the BJP belongs to only upper caste communities by inducting more backward classes cadre and leaders.
He said that alliances and adjustments with other political parties, especially with the TD, will be decided only at the time of elections and not earlier.
“We will develop the party as the alternative to the TRS in the state. We won’t talk of alliances now. As of now, BJP is concentrating only on strengthening its base,” Dr Laxman said in reply to a question.
As expected, he said that there was nothing great about the functioning of the TRS government in the state, saying that one can easily find out the way Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao functioned without even visiting his chambers in the state Secretariat.
