Andhra Pradesh beats Telangana in development goals: Niti Ayog
Niti Aayog has rated AP above TS with a score of 64 against the all-India average of 57.
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh performs better than Telangana state in industry innovation and infrastructure, gender equality and other parameters leading to sustainable development, the Niti Ayog has said.
In a new report, Niti Aayog has rated AP above TS with a score of 64 against the all-India average of 57. TS had a composite score of 61. Both states were called ‘performers’.
The front-runners were Kerala (69), Himachal Pradesh (69) and Tamil Nadu (66), the tailenders were Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Assam.
The report, ‘17 goals to transform our world’, studied parameters such as ‘no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry innovation and infrastructure, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, life on land, peace, justice and strong institutions.
AP did well in eight of the 13 parameters: erasing poverty, boosting health, education, clean energy, decent work, reduced inequalities, life on land, peace, justice and strong institutions. The state ranked low in gender equality, industrial and infrastructure and sustainable cities and communities.
Telangana did well in six: reducing inequalities, life on land, justice and peace, good health, quality education, and decent work. It lost out in industry innovation and infra, gender equality, zero hunger and no poverty.
