S Chandramohan Reddy gets Nellore cop shifted
He took objection to the minister's observation underlining the need for respect and took the issue to the notice of higher authorities.
GUNTUR: The sudden transfer of Nellore Fourth Town circle inspector C. Seetharamaiah is being attributed to an episode involving the official and agriculture minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on May 20. According to police sources, the minister allegedly pulled up the CI for not turning up at his programme which was held at the vegetable market located close to the Fourth Town police station in Nellore, as per protocol.
The CI reportedly mistook the comments of the minister over spending three hours to deal with a case and ignoring his programme. He took objection to the minister’s observation underlining the need for respect and took the issue to the notice of higher authorities. Sources said the defiance of the circle inspector led the minister to also complain to the higher authorities who shifted him on Wednesday.
A TD leader, who did not want to be identified, alleged that many TD functionaries and followers of Mr Chandramohan Reddy and minister P. Narayana were unhappy with the CI because of his alleged impolitenes when they approached him. He said they had been trying to have him transferred for long and the latest episode involving Mr Chandramohan Reddy was the last straw.
The police official’s transfer is just the lastest in the series of face offs between the TD leaders and government and police officials. The reverberations caused by Vijayawada MP’s alleged attack on transport commissioner Balasubra-manyam were still to die down when Tanuku TD legislator A. Radhakrishna reportedly confined two police personnel at his house in West Godavari district. When the police booked an FIR, all MLAs returned their security personnel in protest.
