Hibi Eden spells out vision for Ekm
Securing Central sops, Metro expansion, saving coastal areas in pipeline.
Kochi: Newly elected MP from Ernakulam Lok Sabha constituency Hibi Eden on Saturday spelt out his vision for the constituency at a meet the press programme organised by the Ernakulam Press Club. He said that his main attempt would be to take various Central government programmes to as many people as possible in the constituency.
Hibi said that he would strive to take Metro Rail to maximum possible areas. He said that scheme likes Mudra Loan and various insurance schemes from the Central Government would be taken to more sections of people. “Schemes like Soukhyam which I started during my tenure as Ernakulam MLA would be continued with renewed vigour. The livelihood of people in the coastal belt and sea wall construction would be among my priorities and I would pressurise the Centre for the formation of a Fisheries Ministry,” said Hibi Eden.
Hibi also said that Ernakulam constituency needs a modern waste treatment plant. “Though Kochi Coroporation has taken an initiative in this regard, I would try for a comprehensive plant for the constituency with Central government support. A masterplan would also be prepared for the entire constituency. Though Kochi is the fifth Smart City in the country, it has not really benefited and I would try to make maximum out of the Smart City Mission Scheme of the Central government,” Hibi said.
He also said that he doesn’t agree with privatisation of the PSUs in and around Kochi and would try to uplift them.
