Kalpetta: Farmer ends life after getting bank notice
He consumed poison during the night, and the mishap came to light only in the wee hours of Saturday.
Kalpetta: A farmer ended his life by consuming poison at Neervaram near Panamaram, here. The body of V.D. Dinesan, 60, was found at his house on Saturday.
A debt-ridden farmer, Dinesan had loans to the tune of Rs 20 lakh from various banks including Canara Bank, Service Cooperative Bank, Pana-maram and North Mala-bar Grameen Bank, Panamaram.
He had received revenue recovery notices from a bank the other day which might be the reason for the suicide, according to relatives. He consumed poison during the night, and the mishap came to light only in the wee hours of Saturday.
“Though relatives rushed him to the district hospital, Mananthavadi, he breathed his last on Saturday, police said.
Owning four acres of land he had incurred heavy losses recently due to wildlife attack, relatives said. Dinesan is survived by wife Sujithakumari, children Suvidha , Darsana.
