Rousing welcome for Jagan Mohan Reddy in Hyderabad
Reddy took care to greet his supporters before he entered his house.
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister-designate Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy got a rousing welcome in Hyderabad on Saturday during his first visit after his landslide victory in the elections.
Huge banners and posters of Mr Reddy had been put up on the road between Begumpet, where he had gone to call on Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and his residence at Lotus Pond in Jubilee Hills.
A huge crowd gathered at the entrance of Raj Bhavan to welcome Mr Reddy when he went to call on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to stake claim. The crowd shouted, “CM, CM.”
Later in the evening, the crowd turned unmanageable at his Lotus Pond residence, Party workers and fans had turned up in huge numbers welcome Mr Reddy and the slogan-shouting in his support was at its loudest.

At many places, his supporters gathered on the roadside to have a glimpse of the new Chief Minsiter of AP as his convoy left Pragathi Bhavan and travelled to the Lotus Pond residence.
The police increased security for Mr Reddy. A bullet-proof vehicle was included as part of his convoy. Police had mounted strict vigil to ensure that there were no untoward incidents.
The police was not above manhandling visitors who became unruly, especially at Pagathi Bhavan.
Earlier, Mr Reddy was welcomed with a basket of fruits and bouquets at Pragathi Bhavan by mr Chandrasekhar Rao. Their warm embrace upon meeting reflected their political relationship.
