TD to introduce 14 resolutions in Mahanadu targeting YSR Congress on several fronts
Vijayawada: The Telugu Desam would introduce and pass 14 resolutions in its two-day Mahanadu annual conclave beginning on Saturday in Rajamahendravaram with special emphasis on targeting the ruling YSR Congress government on several fronts.
The resolutions deal with rise in prices of essentials, cement, sand, fuels and taxes as also bus charges and about the “crisis” in agriculture, “lack of safety to women”; joblessness, the government’s “unhelpful attitude” towards the BCs, “lack of welfare steps” for the SCs, STs and minorities, “poor standards” in the education sector, rise in the cost of health care etc.
The resolutions would also highlight the “lack of progress” in industrial sector and “diversion of investments” to other states, the government’s “failure” to protect the interests of labourers, YSRC’s “plundering” of natural resources like sand, soil, minerals, the menace of drugs and ganja; the state’s fall in a “debt trap,” “destroyal” of institutions like diversion of funds of local bodies; electoral violence etc.
The conclave also takes up six resolutions these pertaining to Telangana -- namely the impact of untimely rainfall on farmers and “failure” of the BRS government to provide relief; the leak of question papers; “failures” in implementation of assurances on bifurcation of erstwhile AP and other assurances given by CM Chandrasekhar Reddy; “rise” in the number of atrocities against women in TS; the incomplete irrigation projects and rise in prices of essential commodities affecting the common man.
While chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has been repeatedly saying that AP is witnessing class war and not a caste war, in an oblique reference to allegations from the TD leaders and their supporters, the TD leadership does not agree with this claim. It says CM Jagan is a capitalist.
The conclave would adopt resolutions on the centenary celebrations of Telugu Desam founder president NT Rama Rao, completion of 41 years of existence of the Telugu Desam party. Another resolution would pay rich tributes to the departed party activists.
Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu arrived at Rajamahendravaram and presided over the party’s politburo meeting on Friday. He discussed the arrangements for the Mahanadu and the draft resolutions. Later, the party’s state president K Atchannaidu briefed the politburo members about the programme schedules.
