No evidence yet in probe on Jesna's disappearance
The court, meanwhile, questioned the need for a habeas corpus petition in the case connected with the disappearance.
KOCHI: The investigation team has not obtained any evidence in connection with the disappearance of Jesna Maria James, a degree student belonging to Pathanamthitta district. Thiruvalla DYSP Chandrasekharan Pillai in an affidavit submitted in the High Court on Monday said the investigation team has probed all information and allegations regarding the disappearance of the girl. But it
has failed to obtain any clear evidence in the matter.
The probe team has questioned 250 persons and recorded the statement of 130 people. The police has also perused nearly 100,000 telephone calls. The police is pursuing the probe in a vigorous manner with the seriousness it deserved, the affidavit said.
The court, meanwhile, questioned the need for a habeas corpus petition in the case connected with the disappearance. The court has remarked whether missing of the person could be equated with keeping a person in illegal custody. The court made the observations while considering a petition by Shaun George, a political activist.
