RSS worker held in Malappuram Press Club attack case
The accused have been identified from the CCTV visuals collected from the nearby shops of the club.
MALAPPURAM: A RSS worker has been arrested on Monday in connection with the Malappuram Press Club attack case. The Police team from Malappuram headed by Inspector A. Premjith arrested Padinharepurakkal Nidheesh, 26, from his house in Tirurangadi in the wee hours of Monday. The accused was produced before a Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Malappuram and remanded in custody.
Earlier, two other RSS workers were held in the case. Seven others who were among the gang which barged into the Press Club on May 3 are still absconding. The gang attacked Chandrika daily photographer Fuad Saneen after he tried to take visuals of a motorcycle rider being manhandled by RSS and Hindu Aikya Vedi men during a protest march.
The police had registered case against 10 RSS activists who chased and thrashed Saneen inside the Press Club. Saneen’s phone had also been snatched by the attackers. The accused have been identified from the CCTV visuals collected from the nearby shops of the club. The police had to overpower the RSS workers to arrest Nadakkalakandi Dileep Kumar, 31, and Kallingathodi Shibu, 30, both from Cheruvayur in Vazhakkad on May 4 after they tried to block the Police team. They were also picked from their houses in the wee hours.
