Decayed fish brought from Odisha seized at Thrissur railway station

Thrissur: In a join inspection Food Safety and Health Department officials seized and destroyed decayed fish brought from Balasore in Odisha here on Thursday morning.

Acting on a tip-off that a consignment of ice packed fish which was meant to be alighted at Thrissur went to Thiruvanathapurm by mistake and has got decayed due to the delay in reaching the market, Food Safety officials asked the Railway officials to withhold the parcel for the consignee at the Railway Parcel Office at Thrissur Railway Station."The ice packed parcels were opened at the shop in Sakthan fish market and found that out of the 360 kg raw fish 20 kgs were decayed and a sack of 60 kg of dry fish which came along with the same consignment was also disposed as it fell on the railway track while unloading," V K Pradeep, Food Safety Officer of Thrissur Circle said.

DMO K P Reetha was also reached the railway station.
