ICGS Vishwast to visit Bangladesh, Thailand
Ship will depart from Visakhapatnam on Friday for Bangladesh, Myanmar and Thailand.
Visakhapatnam: Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Vishwast will go on an international deployment to Bangladesh, Myanmar and Thailand. During the deployment the ship will participate in exercises with the Navies of the visiting nations.
ICGS Vishwast, 94 metres ship has arrived in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. The ship is based at Port Blair and is under the command of DIG N. Ravi. ICGS Vishwast, constructed by M/s Goa Shipyard Ltd is an Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) class of ship and equipped with modern equipment to carry out Coast Guard specific tasks.
Ship will depart from Visakhapatnam on Friday for Bangladesh, Myanmar and Thailand. During its overseas deployment the ship will conduct exercises with the Coast Guard and Navies of these littoral nations. Such exercises are helpful in understanding and validate the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in case of eventuality arising where the Coast Guard of two nations have to operate jointly. The Ship will return to Port Blair on September 24 on completion of overseas deployment.
