Hyderabad: It seems that the Telangana state government has funds for all projects other than its welfare schemes. In an indication of its tight financial condition, the state government has imposed restrictions on spending on welfare schemes and has frozen all payments till October.
Funds release for scholarships and fee reimbursement for students, social security pensions and medical reimbursement Bills has been stopped, affecting lakhs of students, pensioners and employees. The TS government had presented a budget of over Rs 1.33 lakh crore for this year (2016-17), of which plan expenditure accounts for Rs 72,195 crore and non-plan expenditure Rs 61,622 crore. Five months of this financial year (April-August) is almost over.
