VMC commissioner goes on field visit to verify voters
Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) commissioner Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar on Friday carried out field verification as electoral registration officer (ERO) in several areas of the Central constituency in the city. He instructed accompanying officials to follow norms regarding deletions and inclusions strictly.
The commissioner underlined that a primary aspect of reviewing voters’ list is verifying deletion of voters carried out since January 2022. These deletions are necessitated owing to death and shifting. They are done meticulously adhering to the procedures prescribed by Election Commission of India (ECI).
Swapnil said the intention of comprehensive re-verification is to confirm that all deletions have been executed in full compliance with the established norms, along with appropriate documentation.
The commissioner and his team carried out on-ground verification in Ramalingeswarapet and New Rajarajeswarpet areas of Central constituency. He said the initiative is a testament to the commitment of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation and ECI to uphold the sanctity of the electoral process. This ensures that the electoral roll remains accurate, free from errors and up-to-date.
Swapnil emphasised that such a field verification process is an integral part of upholding the democratic principles of transparency and fairness. He thanked the local residents for their cooperation and support extended while carrying out the exercise.
