Young Minds Learn and Network with Mithali Raj, British Dy HC and Other Trailblazers

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad edition of the Achievers Dialogues, featured a candid conversation with Mithali Raj, former Indian Women’s Cricket captain, and a special address by Gareth Wynn Owen, British Deputy High Commissioner to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, on Saturday.

The event was organised by the National Indian Students and Alumni Union UK (Nisau UK) and the British Council in India, as part of the year-long UK Achievers Honours programme meant to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India's independence and the long history of educational collaboration between the two countries.

It also had special addresses by Janaka Pushpanathan, director, British Council, South India, Dr Anthony Vipin Das, consultant ophthalmologist and innovator, Dr Vignesh Krishnan, director Hyderabad of Teach for India, Sanam Arora, chairperson of Nisau UK, Commissioner of UK International Higher Education Commission.

Students who attended the event had the opportunity to listen to and network with the speakers, many of them alumni of UK universities. Each of them spoke about their struggles and learnings from life that inspired young minds who asked several questions from their idols.

The session shed light on key aspects of studying in the UK, such as opportunities, scholarships, building meaningful and purpose-driven careers, graduate immigration route, visas and more. The India UK Achievers Honours are supported by the UK government’s department for international trade and the UK higher education sector.
