East Godavari student to be JNTUK Vice-Chancellor
Director of admissions hopes to bring changes to varsity.
KAKINADA: A former student of University College of Engineering of Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University and currently working as Director of Admissions at JNTUK, M. Ramalinga Raju, may become the vice-chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University of Kakinada (JNTUK).
Mr Raju's education till B. Tech was completed in East Godavari. From Class II to V, he studied at Victoria Municipal High School in Rajahmundry. From Class V to VII, he was with RRBS at Pithapuram and Class IX and X he studied at Mc Laurens High School at Kakinada. For his Intermediate, he joined PR Government College and got a seat in JNTU College at Kakinada through EAMCET.
He is currently professor of electrical and electronics engineering at the University of Engineering Kakinada. He would be the fourth vice-chancellor of JNTUK. Mr.Raju pursued B.Tech in 1986 from the College of Engineering in Kakinada and M. Tech from REC at Warangal. He was awarded Ph.D from JNTU Hyderbad in EEE Department. Mr Raju entered his profession in 1989 in Kakinada and got promoted as Associated Professor in 2003 and as Professor in 2006. He discharged his duties as project engineer (electrical) and Head of the Department of EEE and vice-principal of ECEK. He rendered his services as Foreign Universities Relations (FUR) Director and made collaborations with many Foreign Universities and promoted higher education. Presently he is working as Director of Admissions in JNTUK.
Mr Raju told this reporter that he would focus on formulation of own procedures, statutes, guidelines and other regulations for JNTUK as after the formation of JNTUK, there were its own procedures.
He said that he would make efforts to improve academics and bring old era. He said that transparency should be given priority. Eliminating corruption at all levels will be on his agenda. He thanked AP Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, education minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, APPSC chairman P. Udaya Bhaskar and others for supported as VC for JNTUK.
