Chennai: Former Union Minister and Congress senior P. Chidambaram has claimed that it would be appropriate to hold the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu rather than conduct by-elections for 20 Assembly constituencies.

Mr. Chidambaram who took to the micro blogging site, tweeted in Tamil reacting to Thursday’s Madras High Court verdict in the MLAs disqualification case, “instead of holding by-polls in 18 + 2 Assembly constituencies, it would be appropriate to conduct a full-fledged Assembly election in the State.”

The disqualified legislators are with the ousted leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran.
