ANANTAPUR: Steps initiated by Anantapur collector S. Nagalakshmi helped the son of a hamali get a seat in IIT Dhanbad.
Incidentally, Mohan Krishna of Budedu village in Garladinne mandal got 1,330th rank in IIT-2022 and a seat in IIT Dhanbad. But his father Nagaraju, who is a hamali, had been unable to pay the required college and hostel fees for his son.
Nagaraju raised the matter with Anantapur collector during a grievance meeting a few days ago.
Nagalakshmi took up the matter with Anantapur-based Gayatri Milk Dairy. Its general manager Nagaraja Rao gave a cheque of ₹70,000 from the dairy’s CSR funds towards payment of fees. The collector appreciated the milk dairy for helping a poor student.
