Mr Bhaskar expressed dissatisfaction over the functioning of panchayat officials, particularly in villages. The collector directed the officials to collect full taxes from the people in the villages. It is learnt the panchayat officials could collect only Rs 10 crore out of a projected Rs 80 crore in taxes for the past eight months.
Due to the negligence of panchayat officials, the tax collections has drastically dropped. He asked district panchayat officer Sudhakar to issue memos to EOPRDS in written form. Unless the replies are satisfactory, charge memos would be issued to them, he said.
