Poultry India Expo in Hyderabad from today

Hyderabad: Telangana, which stands tall in poultry production, will observe Tuesday as the Poultry Knowledge Day. To mark the occasion, the Indian Poultry Equipment Ma-nufacturers Association will be organising the Poultry India Expo here from Tuesday to Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, IPEMA president Chakradhar Rao said, “The success story of poultry in India is the envy of almost all developed nations. This would not have been possible without steadfast endeavours of the Indian poultry farmers, who collectively made poultry a phenomenal Rs 1.1 lakh crore industry, focused on food and nutritional security of the nation.” Chakradhar Rao underlined that India’s poultry industry is one of the key contributors to the country’s agriculture and animal husbandry GDP. In this context, he said the issue related to unbridled imports of processed chicken from US should be resolved soon by the government.

The two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are number one when it comes to production of chicken and eggs, followed by Tamil Nadu. Telangana sta-nds first and within the state, Hyderabad consumes the highest amount of chicken and eggs, he stated.
