Shivamogga: 32 children, teachers hurt after bus overturns

The injured children belonged to Sri Ramappa Naikar High School run by the BAJSS Institute at Antaravalli village in Haveri district.

Shivamogga: Thirty-two schoolchildren and teachers who were on a school trip were severely injured as the bus they were travelling in met overturned at Churikatte cross near Talaguppa in Sagar taluk on Sunday evening.

The injured children belonged to Sri Ramappa Naikar High School run by the BAJSS Institute at Antaravalli village in Ranebennur taluk of Haveri district. The driver, allegedly drunk, lost control while negotiating a curve and the vehicle overturned. 

It is said that the children were heading back after visiting Jog Falls and other tourist places when the accident occurred. Some of the injured were admitted to McGann District Govt Hospital in Shivamogga and Taluk Hospital in Sagar town. 
A case has been registered with the Siddapur police station of Uttara Kannada district.
