Hyderabad: Few turn up to check voter list

The corporation asked voters to verify their names in the draft electoral rolls published on November 27.

The GHMC says the area is being maintained as a garbage transfer station. Harichandana Dasari, GHMC west zone commissioner, said, We have started rectifying the problems residents are facing after it came to our notice.

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has received moderate response from voters during the Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls (IRER) conducted on Sunday. The corporation asked voters to verify their names in the draft electoral rolls published on November 27. It asked voters to raise claims and objections till December 31.

A GHMC official claimed the corporation had received overwhelming response from the voters, as it had sent SMSs to 10 lakh property owners asking them to verify their names in the draft publication. Additional commissioner (elections) Jayaraju Kennedy said the GHMC had supplied the deletion list to all political parties. He said that a city voter who had gone to Gujarat participated in the IRER special campaign. He said, Mr Sammeer Kotadia, residing  at  Sindhi  Colony, Begumpet, came all the way from Gujarat to enrol his name the list.
