N Chandrababu Naidu reviews Fibre Grid project
President to launch it on Wednesday.
Vijayawada: All arrangements have been made for the launch of AP Firbe Grid by President Ramnath Kovind on Dec. 27, Wednesday. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the arrangements for the launch on Monday with APSFL MD Babu and other officials. Minister for IT Nara Lokesh too participated in the review meeting.
President Ramnath Kovind will launch the project at 12.01 pm and will address the gathering at 12.38 pm at the Secretariat. Termed as Triple Play2 Services by technological experts, the Fibre Grid project envisages provision of Internet, television and telephone services to over 1 lakh households in the state at a nominal price of Rs 149 per month each. While the Internet services would be available at a very high speed of 15 Mbps-100 Mbps, television services would provide infotainment from 250 plus channels and telephone services would be completely rental-free.
Reviewing the arrangements for the launch of the programme by the President, the Chief Minister expressed happiness that his dream of providing Internet, television and telephone services to the common man at a very nominal price is getting realised. At present, the Fibre Grid connections would be available to around 1 lakh households with 100% connectivity in 55 villages. He emphasised the need for providing connections to 30 lakh households by 2019 as targeted by the government. Being connected online has its own benefits. It would help people in publicising about one’s own talent or businesses, the doctor said.
