Nellore: Christmas celebrated with religious fervour

Gaiety and religious fervour marked Christmas celebrations in Nellore and Prakasam districts.

Nellore: Gaiety and religious fervour marked Christmas celebrations in Nellore and Prakasam districts. Churches were spruced up and illuminated for the annual festival as they were full to their brim with the devout bee lining to offer prayers. Special prayers were conducted from Sunday midnight onwards. Urban development minister P. Narayana took part in the mass prayers at St. Joseph Church at Santhapeta in Nellore City. Bishop of Nellore Dr M.D. Prakasam conducted the prayers.

The minister was accompanied by MLC Beeda Ravichandra and former legislator M. Sreedhar Krishna Reddy. A large number of people dressed in their colourful best thronged the church and exchanged greetings. The celebrations were held at St. Anthony Church at Fatehkhanpeta, Vianney Home and American Baptist Church among other places.

At Ongole, devotees thronged churches and attended the midnight mass and prayers early in the morning. Ongole legislator Damacharla Janardhan took part in the celebrations at JMB Church in Ongole. He has cut the Christmas cake and distributed to the devotees.
