Tired of Congress, BJP, people await options: TRS
He explained that though Mr Rao in 2006 had succeeded in uniting about 28 out of 32 political parties.
Hyderabad: The TRS on Tuesday said that people across the country were fed up with the administration of the BJP and Congress-led fronts at the Centre.
TRS MP Vinod Kumar, a party politburo member, addressing a press conference in Telangana Bhavan said people were looking for an alternative to the Congress and the BJP.
Condemning the allegations of the Congress, TD and the CPI who called Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s efforts to bring together regional parties for a non-Congress, non-BJP coalition as an attempt to help the NDA and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return to power, he said that the Federal Front was aimed at empowering regional parties for a better bargaining power.
He said AICC spokesperson Anand Sharma, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, CPI general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy and National Council secretary K. Narayana were making baseless allegations against the CM for their own political mileage.
He said that they were unable to understand the concept of a Federal Front or whatever name that would be decided after arriving at a consensus with all stakeholders.
He said that the idea of a non-Congress, non-BJP front at the national level was not a new idea and roots of the Federal Front lay in the separate statehood movement.
He explained that though Mr Rao in 2006 had succeeded in uniting about 28 out of 32 political parties and had given letters to the Pranab Mukherjee Committee in favour of state bifurcation, the Congress party kept the proposal pending citing one reason or the other.
Keeping in view that experience, Mr Rao had been discussing with regional parties about the unification of regional parties to have a strong bargaining point with the party in power at the Centre to fulfil aspirations of the people of various states, he added.
