Asifabad: Adivasi woman activist still missing
Jugunaka Rambabai was last seen riding bike in ghat section.
Asifabad: Adivasis are anxious about the missing of Adivasi woman activist, Jugunaka Rambabai, 36, of Pangidimadara village, Tiryani mandal, Kumara-mbheem Asifabad district.
Family members and police are searching for the woman for the last few days.
Rambabai is a well-known social activist among the adivasis and is missing since the recent Yellapatar incident. There is no information about the whereabouts of Rambabai. Tiryani SI, P. Ramarao, said they have registered a missing case following a complaint lodged on December 19 by Rambabai’s brother stating that she was missing from December 16.
Family members said that Rambabai went with her brother to Asifabad and returned to Khairiguda from there.
It is said that she was last seen riding a bike in the ghat section on the day she went missing.
She told her the brother that she was going to Ginnedhari village and she left alone leaving her brother at Khairiguda.
Rambabai’s chappals and chunni were found near Geethanagar. It is learnt that Rambabai’s cell phone signals were shown in the Asifabad town before being switched off. Rambabai was carrying nearly `80,000 cash she got after selling her cotton produce.
The rumour is that Rambabai collected some money from the farmers promising them pattas for their lands. Some children of Geethanagar saw Rambabai quarreling with two men on the evening of December 16.
Later in the night, her scooty was on the road leading towards Pangidi-madara from Asifabad and an RTC bus driver kept the Scooty at the side of the road when he found it in front of the bus in the middle of the road when he was driving.
It is also said that she had a habit of going treasure-hunting.
It is suspected that some adivasis who developed a grudge against Rambabai might have caused harm to her.
