First COVID-19 death in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam has reported its first COVID-19-related death.
A 51-year-old woman, diagnosed with Type-2 respiratory failure and SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia, succumbed to the virus, according to an official statement from King George Hospital (KGH).

“Despite determined resuscitation efforts by the medical professionals, the patient could not be revived and was declared deceased on December 28, 2023.”

The woman had tested positive for COVID-19 on December 24. Authorities are awaiting the report to verify whether the strain is the JN1 variant or not.
