Khammam to top others in irrigation and agriculture sector
The Mission Bhagiratha scheme will provide safe drinking water to all the people in district, district collector said.
Khammam: Republic Day celebrations were held amidst great fanfare. Thousands of students, dressed in colourful clothes, participated in the programmes showcasing patriotism.
District collector Lokesh Kumar said the government was putting in all efforts to ensure all-round development of the district and be first among others. Khammam stands first in the irrigation and agriculture sectors, he said.
Efforts are on to bridge the urban-rural divide by providing facilities in all habitations in the villages on par with those in the cities. The Mission Bhagiratha scheme will provide safe drinking water to all the people in district, he said.
The district will witness a blue revolution as about 1.23 crore seed fish are being grown in 163 water tanks in the district. The fish will be exported to other areas in the country.
The reorganisation of the districts was done only for the convenience of adminsitration, he said and added that people will experience it soon. Over 59 state employees, including teachers, were presented awards for best services.
