Cargo handling increases at Visakhapatnam Port Trust
VPT has made marked improvements in all the physical efficiency parameters such as waiting time, turn round time and output per day (OSBD).
Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) has achieved an incremental cargo volume of about 1.5 MT in the current financial year. It has already crossed 51 MT in April-December, 2017 over 49.6 MT handled during the same period last year.
“The port is witnessing growth trajectory in spite of serious challenges and market volatility. Traffic in coking coal, steam coal, cargo and fertilisers have together registered an increase of nearly 3 MT, chairman M.T. Krishnababu said.
He said that the significant contribution made by these cargos has more than offset the decline in iron ore, POL and TNEB coal.
