Hyderabad: The Congress leaders demanded a CBI inquiry into the murder of Nalgonda municipal chairperson B. Lakshmi’s husband Srinivas.

Several Congress leaders, including TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Opposition leaders in the Council and Assembly, Mohammad Ali Shabbir and K. Jana Reddy and former MP V. Hanumantha Rao on Friday visited Ms Laks-hmi’s house and condoled with her.

Mr Reddy later said that Srinivas’ murder was ‘the cruellest one’ and said the KCR government should own responsibility for it.

He demanded a CBI inquiry into the murder and alleged that it was meant to politically damage Congress MLA Koma-tireddy Venkat Reddy. He accused Nakrekal MLA Veeresam (TRS) of planning the murder along with his followers.

Mr Jana Reddy alleged that Srinivas was killed by the TRS government. Stating that Srinivas had been received threatening calls, he sought call data to be brought out to know if Veeresam had a hand in the murder.

Accused surrendered: sources
While police claimed that the main suspects in the murder were absconding, sources said they had surrendered before the police immediately after the murder.

Nalgonda DSP Sudha-kar said all the suspects were still at large and six teams headed by an ins-pector were on the job to nab them. “We are probing all angles in the murder and will soon arrest the suspects,” he added.

Congress leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said police did not provide security to Srinivas despite threat calls.
