KALABURAGI: Congress Leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday tried to play down the air strikes carried out by the Indian Air Force on the hideouts of terrorists in Pakistan early this morning across the Line of Control terming them as part of a “routine course of action” by the armed forces.

When his attention was to the reported air strikes, Mr Kharge initially declined to comment saying he did not have much details with regard to the kind of strikes carried out and the number of terrorists killed in the operations. “But these are routine activities- attacking terrorists and exchanging fire across the LoC. This has  happened during the tenure of all governments. When our government was in power, similar attacks were carried out six times. Now the forces have retaliated following the attack on CRPF personnel. This is the action taken by the forces and the (Union) government has got nothing to do with the strikes. Such strikes are necessary in the interests of the country and we will support such actions by the armed forces. The country has to unitedly support the armed forces”, Mr Kharge added.
