Chennai: Security guard falls to death from under construction building

Chennai: A 50-year-old man slipped to death from the third floor of a building in Selaiyur, Tambaram  on Tuesday morning

The deceased has been identified as Mani, 50, a resident of  ALS Nagar in Adambakkam and the security guard of a private engineering college in Selaiyur.

The incident happened at around 10:30 am on Tuesday morning when Mani climbed to an underconstructed building within the college premises.  

Sources said when he leaning on an iron railing in the third floor it  came off, resulting in his fall from a height of about 50 feet. When the construction workers heard a loud thud, they rushed out of their building.  They found Mani bleeding profusely.

Mani was rushed to a private hospital nearby where he succumbed to his head injuries. The Selaiyur police registered a case and further investigations are on. His body was sent to Chromepet government hospital for post mortem.
