Eluru: Cops review situation along AP-TS border

Stress laid on cops to be on high alert in the context of polls.

Eluru: At an inter-state meet here on Tuesday, the top brass police from AP and TS reviewed the maintenance of law and order situation at the common border area between the states, in the context of the ensuing polls

Eluru range DIG Dr C.M. Trivikrama Varma from AP and Telangana State north zone IG Mr Y. Nagi Reddy and other senior police officials took stock of the law and order position in the common border area and also discussed about the measures to be taken up there in the run-up to the elections in both AP and TS.

Mr Nagi Reddy laid stress on police personnel to be posted at check posts at the borders of the two states, to be on high alert to avoid any illegal transport of cash and liquor.

He also laid stress on police personnel posted at check posts, wearing reflective jackets. They should also keep ready the dragon lights and communication equipment to keep a close tab on vehicles and the people moving in them, he said.

Eluru range DIG C.M. Trivikrama Varma felt the need to arrest illegal transport of liquor through the common border in both the states.

He said that they were also going to carry out joint operation with the police officers from neighbouring states to curb the movement of Maoists so as to avoid any trouble from them and for peaceful conduct of polls.

He advised the police officers to alert the senior police officers in both the states in case they find any trouble from any source.

This would help the police to resolve the issue quickly and facilitate conduct of polls in a free and fair manner.
