Mangalore mail coaches derail
According to officials, the mishap happened at 6.40 am near the yard when the train was entering Shoranur station from Palakkad side.
Kochi: Two coaches of the Chennai-Mangalore Superfast Mail (12601) derailed near Shoranur Railway station on Tuesday morning. However, no one was injured in the accident.
According to officials, the mishap happened at 6.40 am near the yard when the train was entering Shoranur station from Palakkad side.
“The SLR coach and parcel van adjacent to the engine got derailed. However, a major mishap was averted as the train was proceeding going slow. Electric poles adjacent to ‘Road 7 of Sho-ranur Yard’ got damaged,” an official said.
Train services in the Thrissur-Shornur stretch were hit for nearly three hours before the traffic being restored. The Thiruvananthapuram-Shoranur Venad Express, Calicut-Thrissur Passenger and Thrissur-Shoranur passenger were partially cancelled in the Thrissur-Shoranur Jn section. A probe has been ordered into the incident.
