Hyderabad: The Telangana state police has identified over 10 vital defence establishments in the Secunderabad-AOC area, Golconda, Bolaram and tightened security cover there.

While state police personnel have been designated to protect the establishments outside the premises, Army personnel are vigilant inside the premises, said a source.

The extra security cover comes after aerial strikes carried out by the Indian Air Force against JeM training in KPK, Pakistan.

“Security was intensified at the defence establishments in the city after the terror attack on CRPF jawans at Pulwama a few days ago,” a senior police officer said.

“Following the aerial bombing on terror outfits, the cover has been magnified. While security outside the defence installations was taken care of by the police, Army personnel were looking after the security inside their campuses,” the official added.

The establishments come under the jurisdiction of Bolaram, Marredpally, Karkhana and Trimulgherry police station limits. Apart from in Secunderabad, there were a few establishments in Langar Houz and adjoining areas as well.

Reportedly, senior police officials of the state are in coordination with army officials over security cover and steps to be taken to providing proper security to military areas.

Officials are interacting on a day-to-day basis with army personnel to review and discuss safety issues and the preparedness to deal with the situation.

The Intelligence Bureau has meanwhile alerted the directors-general of police in all states to take necessary safety measures in the wake of the strikes carried out by the Indian Air Force on terror camps in Pakistan in the early hours of Tuesday.

A communication has been sent to the DGPs in all the states. The IB said some terror groups might foment trouble.

The IB also asked the states to take steps to prevent any untoward incidents and eventualities in the wake of Tuesday’s air strikes. Security has been beefed around important installations and tourist sites across different metro cities.
